I think I misrepresented me, actually. What I was trying to say was that I could not think of one *individual* book that changed how my mind works. I was not at *all* saying that I figured out being me without the books - that would be a big stinking lie because I reckon reading has had more influence on me that pretty much anything else.
But from the mass of thousands and thousands of books that I've read, I can't pick out any particular one that's been A Turning Point. I can look at each individual book, and say 'ooh, that caused me to get interested in thing, or think too much about other thing, or want to do a different again thing'. But the way that they've shaped my little head is far more subtle that that, I think, so I can never make a list of life-changing books. They did it between them - blame all the books!
