Selling the car would make me feel quite sad as well though, it's a lovely thing & I would like to get it back on the road again. (Also selling it is in itself a big faff, whereas leaving it there is not.)

To be fair the state of the front of the house was more a metaphor than an actual list of things that are actually stressing me out... e.g. the wall is not so falling-down as to be a danger, so it's really a very low priority. (Higher priorities are: fixing the bathroom radiator; putting up curtains; building shelves; redecorating the tattiest rooms; rearranging furniture so that it's all in the right rooms; getting rid of furniture that we don't want...) And there's no way I am paying anybody to do weeding/litter-picking! It's the sort of thing I can imagine getting round to doing (maybe even this weekend) now that I can bend down without throwing up. :-}

Oh and the fences were even more poetic licence, because the ones out the front are brand new & don't need painting... :) though they remind me that the old fences at the back probably need doing, & that we want to look into getting a gate. Bottomless pit of expense and faff! We do, however, now have an oven and a hob (and new kitchen worktops) so that's one thing off the list.

(BTW thank you for your lovely email -- haven't had time to compose a decent reply but I will!)
