Today

[livejournal.com profile] hoiho went home.

I missed hearing the bells of King's College chapel chime 9 a.m.

I took a bag of apples into work. I must remember to eat them, or they'll just quietly rot in my desk.

I fixed a lot of broken breadcrumbs. This makes more sense than it sounds like it should.

I noticed that it was still almost light at 6pm as I was leaving work.

I remembered March 17th, and March 29th, and some other scattered dates.

I went to bed after posting this journal entry at 10:30pm.

The bells, the bells!

You'd be sooooo glad not to be hearing the chapel bells if you'd ever slept in a room directly beneath the bloody things.

In my long-lost student days, the clock weights and bell ropes ran down a wooden shaft that formed part of my bedroom wall. They conducted the sounds of the clock and its chiming mechanism quite well, and the chapel bell even better.

I fantasised, some Wednesday mornings at 7:30 AM, that the bell ropes would conduct electricity quite well too, all the way to the college Chaplain. Luckily he always stopped before I was awake enough to break into the shaft with the fire axe, pour water down the cord, and affix a crocodile clip and jump lead to the mains.

My room-mate's bedroom wall backed onto the organ pipes and, on the whole, I think I got a better deal. He is now an accountant, and surprisingly sane.

Broken breadcrumbs ?

Sounds like an angsty indie album.
