Save it till the morning after

Thank you to everybody who came to the various bits of our party on Saturday. There were lots and lots of badgers, and cake, and presents. You're all lovely people! (Those of you who didn't come are lovely too, of course, and it's a shame you couldn't be there, but hopefully you had fun doing whatever else you were doing.)

Somebody left a black shirt on the back of the downstairs bathroom door -- we thought it looked like [livejournal.com profile] fanf's, but not sure. Also, I never found [livejournal.com profile] hoiho's phone, so I hope he found it elsewhere...? If anybody else thinks they left anything, give me a shout.

Most weirdly of all, somebody seems to have hidden or stolen all the pillows from the spare room. They vanished some time before we needed them for people to sleep on (so we couldn't even blame [livejournal.com profile] truecatachresis for dreaming about marshmallows). Please give them back or tell us where you hid them!

[livejournal.com profile] hairyears took some great photos -- thank you! (Other people took photos too, but I don't think they've put them on the web yet...)

Aha! So that's where the shirt went. It will not be necessary to identify it by scent; if it's hempen and hairy, it's mine.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's the one. Do you need me to post it, or shall I just try to make sure I have it with me next time I see you?

(Remind me when your Borders meets are, btw? I might try to get down there for one...)

Tuesday evenings - the Borders on Oxford Street, near Oxford Circus tube station (*not* the one on Charing Cross Road). There's normally someone around in the Starbucks on the second floor from 6.30pm or so.

If you get there and there's no one about, text/phone me (see http://www.livejournal.com/users/karen2205/36699.html for phone details), since we'll probably have gone somewhere for food.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! What time do you normally head off for food? Do you go on elsewhere (pub etc.) afterwards?

Hmm, we normally move for food some time between 7.30 - 8pm - I'm trying to persuade people to move for food earlier rather than later, because it means I get home earlier. My weeks are very back to front with LPC classes on Weds & Thu nights, so late nights on Tuesdays aren't ideal.

Post food we either sit and carry on talking where we've eaten or wonder somewhere else - the last couple of times we've ended up in ice cream parlours. Generally by the time we're thinking of going somewhere post food I'm not too keen on going to a pub because I'm tired and the effort of concentrating on conversation in a crowded pub is too much, but we generally try to reach a consensus and do what the majority want to do.

Would be nice to see you:-)

Thanks: just bring it with you whenever we next meet; I shall turn up to B-Movie Bare-chested, a la [livejournal.com profile] d_floorlandmine, having lost my other Vaguely GothTM black shirt elsewhere.

Borders meets... Wot she said.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
If (as I believe) the next B-Movie is the 13th, then I'm afraid I don't think we'll be able to make it -- we're trying to be in approx. 3 different places that weekend, none of which are London!

Will see what we can do about Borders meets. :-)

Mike and I may be at Bmovie if he's unlagged by then...

We can do everything.

Alas, I wasn't having that much fun not coming to your party. We decided that the Rotten ColdTM was somewhat better but probably not up to travelling that far from home (and infecting new people), so went to see my brother's new house instead (about half an hour away), and ended up helping him move furniture. Overall I'd sooner have stayed in bed, to be honest, but never mind. I'm glad you had a good time! I don't even have a hint of a theory about your pillows, though. That's quite strange.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I wondered if it was the Rotten Cold keeping you away... poor you! (And rotten brother for making you move furniture when ill!) Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better anyway.

The pillows thing is just FREAKY.

Looks like it was a good party - although I find the massed badger masks slightly terrifying!

Imagine six people in the kitchen in said masks actually doing the jumping up and down badger-badger thing. Terrifying.

I have the ph3333333333333333r! [grin]

[identity profile] k425.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
See, now I'm weirded out. For some reason I don't expect friends of mine from completely different circles to know each other.

[sproink]

(That's the sound of world-shrinkage - it happens fairly often around LJ ...)

[identity profile] k425.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just LJ, the whole innernet world. Usenet especially...

[identity profile] hoiho.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
LJ makes the diverse linkages explicit, though... like meeting someone in a club, or someone's house, rather than on the street or in a supermarket... or something.

Sorry I didn't make it... I had cold feet about getting back from Cambridge in time for work. But even so I slept until half an hour before I was supposed to be there :/

Hope to see you again soon!

Phone located safely, elsewhere...
Thanks for the party.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, glad you found the phone. Thank you for coming, and thank you for all the BADGERS!

[identity profile] hoiho.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I have more BADGERS, if you want them...

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
MORE BADGERS! MORE BADGERS!

(Do you mean more of the masks? Those really are quite scary badgers...)

Everybody's wearing a disguise to hide what they've got left behind their eyes

[identity profile] hoiho.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, more of the masks.
Quite a number more, actually.

[identity profile] j4.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Um. How many?

Enough to go for the world record for "largest number of badgers at a beer festival", perhaps? :-)

[identity profile] hoiho.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, fewer than I though; only 6 left, now. I mush have handed out 14 at the party. Still, it'll be enough for a wierd badger troupe at the Beer Festival.

Unfortunately it's not possible to wear a badger mask and drink beer simultaneously. Even if it is a Badger beer.

I can see through your masks

[identity profile] hoiho.livejournal.com 2005-05-09 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes it is; the masks only go down as far as the nose, leaving the mouth free to quaff fine foaming ale.

You must have a bigger head than me then. I could see or drink but not both.
