Oh Carol

Silent Night
You are 'Silent Night'! You really enjoy
Christmas, and you like your Christmases
conventional. For you, Christmas is about
family and traditions, and you rather enjoy the
rituals of going to church at midnight and
turning off the lights before flaming the plum
pudding. Although you find Christmas shopping
frustrating, you like the excitement of
wrapping and hiding presents, and opening a
single door on the Advent Calendar each day.
You like the traditional carols, and probably
teach the children to sing along to them. More
than anyone else, you will probably actually
have a merry Christmas.

What Christmas Carol are you?

I think they mean Stille Nacht... :^)

I'd rather be Bethlehem Down, though. (Words by Bruce Blunt, music by Peter Warlock.) Or possibly Darke's setting of "In the Bleak Midwinter". Mmmmmm.

They've got me there; we did sing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in Latin. (And if you ever saw him, you would even say Ecce, lustrabat!)

Nice crunchy harmonies in Bethlehem Down....

We're having In the Bleak Midwinter at the wedding, but Adrian wouldn't let me have Bethlehem Down because he thinks it's weird. *sigh*. It's been my all-time favourite carol since my 2nd year, which was when I first heard it (Queens carol service). I bought a whole CD just to own it ;)

Silent Night too. Not entirely sure how that came about.

I think that Silent Night ought to describe me (but only if it's the version harmonised by Barry Rose). Instead, though:

You are 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing'. You take
Christmas very seriously. For you, it is a
religious festival, celebrating the birth of
the Saviour, and its current secularisation
really irritates you. You enjoy the period of
Advent leading up to Christmas, and attend any
local carol services you can find, as well as
the more contemplative Advent church services
each Sunday. You may be involved in Christmas
food collections or similar charity work. The
midnight service at your church, with candles
and carols, is one you look forward to all
year, and you also look forward to the family
get together on Christmas Day.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a grocer, I would bring him spam;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part,
As I am a shepherd: shank and heart.

:) Dates back to at least my grandfather, that.
