I haven't done very well with birthdays lately (apologies again to [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel, [livejournal.com profile] k425, [livejournal.com profile] simont and probably lots of others), but Happy Birthday to the one person whose birthday I will never have any excuse for forgetting: [livejournal.com profile] addedentry. :)

No need to apologise - I currently remember almost nobody's birthdays and therefore wouldn't dream of taking offence if people miss mine. I keep wondering whether I should enhance my personal calendar software to have it track all the birthdays I can think of, but on balance I think I'd still forget to actually do anything about them and would have far less of an excuse when I did...

Now you mention it, though, happy birthday :-)

And Hros (http://www.employees.org/~august/images/horse.jpg): six today!

But now I am six! As clever as clever!
And I think I'll stay six now for ever and ever!

In Japan, the Japanese carp or koi symbolizes the "manly" virtues of perseverence and the will to overcome obstacles because of its ability to swim upstream in strong currents. It has therefore become an annual custom to hang one paper carp for each son on a pole outside the home on Children's Day, celebrated in Japan on May 5th.

(From today on my calendar, which has instructions for folding a kite carp.)

Mwah! Happy birthday.

The illustration on my page-a-day desk calendar is Escher's Tower of Babel (http://www.worldofescher.com/gallery/A60L.html). I think you would approve.
