When I was a fresher I didn't have a TV and I didn't read the Cambridge Evening News. It took me until halfway through my second year before I heard of anything bad happening in Cambridge, and that was just some drunk beating up one of my friends. The university can be a bit of a bubble - lots of people arn't aware of *anything*
