So after having counted up my four weeks' notice, subtracted three Bank Holidays, and subtracted a further 5 days' holiday (out of the 8 I have owed to me), it turns out that I only have another ELEVEN DAYS working here. May 9th will be my last day.

This is actually quite scary. Eleven days in which to download my ENTIRE BRAIN, or at least all my knowledge of the data.

Cynical Richard gave me the "What can we offer you to make you stay?" talk today, which was a bit uncomfortable because he knew (and I knew he knew) that nothing was going to convince me to stay, and he seemed to sympathise with this, but he had to go through the motions ... and I couldn't really bring myself to go through the motions of saying "Well, I'll think about it" and so on.

In the end I offered him an explanation which would keep everybody satisfied, namely that I wanted a complete change of type-of-job, I wanted to work in the charities sector and "make a real difference" blah blah blah, so while I'd enjoyed (ha!) my time here and learned from it, etc., it was Time To Move On. It's at least part of the reason, anyway, so I haven't lied, and he won't have lied, but nobody will have to do anything they don't want to do. I think he was as relieved and grateful for the get-out as I was, though.

In other news, last night's impromptu celebrations were fun. :-)
[livejournal.com profile] daneel_olivaw, [livejournal.com profile] lnr, [livejournal.com profile] ewx, [livejournal.com profile] hoiho, [livejournal.com profile] simonb, [livejournal.com profile] ejde and [livejournal.com profile] simont came round for pizza and DRINK, and much fun and food and fizz was had. (Thank you all for coming! Especially those who gave up other plans to come and celebrate with me.)

Later most of us went on to the Calling, where things got a little hazy (and not just because of the appalling lighting in the Kambar). I think basically I accidentally ended up propping up the bar talking while most people were dancing, and then dancing while everybody else was talking and/or leaving. Ended up with just me and [livejournal.com profile] lnr and [livejournal.com profile] hoiho, dancing like it hurt. (Well, in my case at least it did hurt. My feet are so knackered.)

Really should do this more often. But so many clubs! So little time! Must get to PANIC some time this year (preferably when [livejournal.com profile] julietk is DJing), want to try to get to Bedazzled, and then there's B-Movie, and Intrusion, and of course (the holy grail of goth clubbing) the Slimelight, which I've still never managed to get to.
