Or not.

I did actually see the "book now" link! But when I followed it, it went back to the "EPIC FAIL" page. The one where the seetickets homepage doesn't explain to anybody who might not be interested in Glastonbury tickets

Good luck to anybody else who's trying to get through...

http://www.seetickets.com/g2008/regform.asp?orig=uk

ETA: I have bought tickets for me and my mum. Now trying to use the spare booking windows I had open for other people!

ETA: Okay, look, I can fairly reliably get a booking window up, but when you hit submit (with reg no, or even with cc details etc) it can still bounce you back to the 'busy' screen, leaving you with no idea whether you've submitted anything. FAIL FAIL FAIL. I am very reluctant to take responsibility for other people's bookings when it is this flaky, after possibly screwing up [livejournal.com profile] mpinna's. But if you want me to try, let me know....

ETA I am not trying again for anybody because it is ALL THE FAIL. It should not be able to reset the connection while submitting your credit card details, and if it does, then it should be bloody clear on whether or not this means your booking has gone through. As it is, the registration numbers all come up as "already used" but there's no indication that the payment has been accepted. ARGH.

Gah, still FAIL for me.

Although the "service busy" window is coming up reliably now, which is an improvement.

see ETA on my post - I can get the booking form but I don't trust it because their service is still SO FUCKING FLAKY.

Argh um not sure! Given flakiness etc... (thank you for offer! May take you up on it shortly.)

My suspicion would be that the "busy" response = "not submitted" & that submitting again would be the correct thing to do. (Although that is SO UNBELIEVABLY SHIT. Even worse than last time.) ISTR they've said that if ppl accidentally get duplicates they'll sort it out.

I idly wondered earlier this year about going to Bayreuth to see a Wagner opera, preferably the Ring cycle. Turns out, the way you get to go to Bayreuth is that you apply for tickets, you are turned down, you do that for about ten or fifteen years, and eventually your name comes up and you get a ticket. Nein danke. But they could do something similar with Glastonbury - get all the applications, allocate tickets by lottery, and then the following year give priority to the people who didn't get tickets last year.

I'm with Owen on Glastonbury, though.

Do you have the source code to the registration page? I seem to remember two Glastonburys ago it was possible to load that up manually and then just keep trying to click the submit button..

Okay!

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~janetmck/glasto.html

BTW when you get past that, all the regnos and postcodes are encoded in the URL:

http://www.seetickets.com/g2008/chkreg.asp?regno4=1234206~CB238AF®no3=1261875~NW53AU®no2=1253916~S101UY®no1=1203068~E20NF&

(those have already been used, just given as an example!)

I'm tempted to risk it, but don't want to put you in any awkwardness if it's so unreliable. So far ChrisC and I have four machines on four different connections in two locations and two phones, and we've not seen a sniff of a booking form in the last hour :(

don't worry about it, it's a big mess of javascript; the tickets would probably be sold out by the time it's all fixed. Thanks anyway!

nononono, it is SEETICKETS' rock. Except they shouldn't be under a rock, they should be WRITING A SYSTEM THAT BLOODY WORKS PROPERLY.

Or we could crush them with the rock.

No worry re screenshot: doubt it would have helped.

It looks like once you get to the front page, you're good for 5 min to get through the forms. At that point, you get a *different* busy error. Things I have also seen after that point:
- entirely blank page, no data at all
- IIS busy error.
- Connection reset error.

The "good for 5 min" thing seems reasonable. But at that point, they should be certain that their server can handle however many requests they're letting through. It seems that it can't.

BAD BAD BAD.

How long did it take you to get your confirmation email? We put all of our details and payment and then it didn't get through to the next page. When we've tried to go through again it's saying our reg details have already been used. Did this happen to you?

Paid for mine at 9:11 and just got the confirmation email now. That one went through with no problems, but the two other bookings I did for other sets of people had the same problem (submit payments, connection fails, subsequent attempts say registration numbers have already been used). ONE of those sets of people has just got their confirmation email but the other hasn't yet..... fingers crossed for everybody!!

Good lordy, it sounds worse than last year, really it does.

Fortunately (for many reasons, not just that I was working today), this year I am working at welfare, so haven't had to go through the ticket hell to ensreu my Glasto fix this time. Please to see you managed to get tickets :)
