Nah, it was an undergraduate. PC conducted the Bruckner orchestra but just plays 'cello in the normal HO, and he wasn't there last night. The chap who's conducting this time is a different conductor from the two chaps who shared the duties last time, and he's quite good, but he's quite quiet and gentle. I do have sympathy with student conductors (who may well not have conducted much if at all before -- whereas the people in the orchestra generally don't have that excuse, they know what you're supposed to do in an orchestra, they should be supporting the conductor) -- I know it's hard to assert your authority over your peers (and over weird old women like me who come along and confuse the issue!), but ... oh I don't know. It is better than last term. But things like not-being-on-time just annoy me more and more the older I get.
Blah, sorry, all rambly. I blame teh ill.
BTW did I ask you for your address in my LJ admin post the other week? If I didn't, please can you email me your address so I can snail-mail something to you? (If you already did this, um, I fail at email, and please can you send it again?) Thank you!
