Oh, good—when I saw it in the early 90s they'd moved her background to Prague/'68 in order to keep it happening "now" without putting too many years on her. The contemporary setting also made the cold-war aspect rather weak. I think you have to do it as 1980s historical now (which is, I, presume, what they did here).
