I dunno if the barrier is the doing or the figuring out, but:
1) do the "migrate my whole LJ" thing DW has 2) set up crossposting and post to DW from then on 3) (optionally) when you see a post on LJ that has been crossposted to DW, add that person on DW and remove them from your default LJ fiends view.
1) and 2) are easy; 3) is an ongoing process and can be done as slow as you like.
