Pome wasn't built in a day

Show me the way to write a pome.
I've got some ideas in my head,
I've been inspired by the Exercises in Song
That I've listened to and read.

It's only a few short lines,
Not some enormous tome,
I'm sure I'll get the hang of it before very long —
Show me the way to write a pome.
