                         ";" | ":" | "&" | "=" | "+" | "$" | "," )
'/' is already banned as a character in userinfo, and for good reason. Similarly, spaces aren't allowed in URIs, IPv4 addresses in URIs are required to be dotted-quads (and no sneaky using hex or octal), and HTTP URIs aren't allowed to contain userinfo at all. All that's needed is for the stupid browsers to actually enforce the rules that already exist.
