Okay, Arbury FastFit have the tyres I want in stock, & sounded quite surprised that I sounded so surprised at this (if you see what I mean). They asked if I wanted "cheap", "average" or "good" tyres... I have no idea. I mean, cheaper would be better from one point of view, but I don't know if "good" are really much better or if they just have better branding.

Not so good news about [livejournal.com profile] pto452 -- having finally got my dynamo back from being reconditioned (after several months) Ian Allen came to fit it and found that it didn't work. So he's sent it back to them again, and it should get fixed soon. He also hasn't done the MOT; so there doesn't seem much point in picking the car up tomorrow when two of the main things I wanted fixed haven't been done yet! (Though he has fixed the float, and fixed the windscreen wiper.) So that's a bit of a pain (because I want my car back!) but on the other hand tomorrow would have been really inconvenient anyway.

So the weekend now looks a bit saner, on account of not involving having to drive two cars in two different places at once.

I'm thinking of going to see Beckett's "Happy Days" at the Corpus Playhouse (?) tomorrow night, if I can find it. I saw an advert for it in Sainsburys the other day and didn't write details down because I thought I could look it up on the web later, but I can't find any information about it anywhere, so I think I'll have to go back to Sainsburys and look at the poster again! I think it's at 9pm-ish, though. Anybody else interested in going? Anybody know where or what the Corpus Playhouse is? Or have I completely misremembered the whole thing?

Is down St Edward's Passage, which runs between King's Parade and Peas Hill.

Depends what you're doing, really. The standard ratings give you a good idea, and I doubt you'd really be pushing any of them in a Renault 5. I'd avoid remoulds, personally, however, but I'm unsure how to spot them, other than sticking with the Known Brands.

Anybody else interested in going?

I would be, but for the fast I'll be 450 miles away. Still, I did discuss it last weekend, with the author of the book I sent you.

And we can talk about it on Sunday, I guess.

"cheap" means "the tread will be gone in a year"
"good" means "you can corner at safety speed +40"
[a little hi! to all Waddingtons Formula1 players there]
I suspect you want average, unless you're not intending to keep the car more than about 18 months, in which case cheap will last just long enough.
I imagine you've already bought them now though
