How long does it normally take to get through?

How many people do they have on the phone lines? Is it just one bloke in a field? Sion said it's impossible to have more than 10 phone lines, and then shouted at me for asking, and stormed out. I feel lonely and miserable, and my ear hurts from having the phone against it, and my arms and back ache from the way I'm sitting, but I daren't move because I know if I stop ringing for even a second then I'll kick myself for it when I don't get a ticket ... but I just can't face the thought of having to spend another 10 hours doing this. :-(

How the fuck does anyone get through?

I'm sure they have more than 10 lines: they have hundreds and hundreds for things like comic relief. I've no idea how you do get through though, I'm having no luck online either. Just keep getting connection refused on their secure server.

If I do get it to work I'll ring you on the mobile. I'm not even sure I want to go this year, and I might as well buy you a ticket instead if you're getting nowhere.

If you can I'll be stupendously grateful... are you trying to get a ticket for anybody else, or just you?

How come you don't want to go any more?

I'm just so tired lots of the time at the moment mostly I think. And it feels like a lot of money, given I might be quitting my job in the near future.

Webpage is at least giving a "very busy" page now rather than just refusing connections, so should be easier to hit reload on and may be closer to actually working. I'll keep giving it a go every 15 mins or so and let you know if I get anywhere.

wi' a hundred phone lines

Oh, and -- Sion says things like Comic Relief are different, because they just use all the phones that the BBC has, whereas Glastonbury doesn't have / can't afford that many phones.

Though how he knows I have no idea. I think he's just cross with me for existing at the moment, to be honest.

My wrist is sore.

From hitting reload. Am having visions of webserver having fallen over in the first five minutes and all bookings having to be done via phone, and phone breaking mid-call like it's been doing lately.

Auuuuuuuuuuuugh. Good luck!

Where are you hitting reload? I'm clicking the button on www.aloud.com and it just gives an alert box saying "connection refused" every time. It's trying to get to www.wayahead-secure.co.uk (212.69.230.96) and I can't ping that.

Ok, not quite "reload": I have a big bunch of tabs open and I'm pasting the URL (https://www.wayahead-secure.co.uk/glastonbury2004/orderform.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=7&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury) into them, waiting for them to time out, hitting "OK" in the "timed out" alert box, pasting it again, ...

I got as far as submitting the booking form, and after about 45 minutes my browser hung. I think there may be firewally stuff before www.wayahead-secure.co.uk -- traceroute gets as far as diamante.core.legend.net.uk (212.41.187.1), and ping is occasionally returning "packet filtered".

Oh is this the way they say the future's meant to feel?
Or just one guy on a mobile standing in a field?
