When I first came across this I was worried by all the very grumpy looking cats. But I was reliably informed that there are cats that always have their ears folded over like that, it's a breed. It is freeky. I'm not sure the best thing for an uncomprehending cat on their birthday is to have a piece of cloth tied around their head, have the family "cheer and yell", take photographs, and then remove it again. I don't think ritual humiliation tends to make the heart grow stronger! :)

The ears thing is the Scottish Fold, I think.

And remember, this is cats. It's quite hard to make a cat sit still long enough to have a piece of cloth tied around its head without gaining a few wounds, unless it doesn't mind...

Maybe one day those people will forget to forward a chain letter, and ten days later they'll be absorbed by a hairless, yellow-eyed cat with gelatinised bones.

Now cats can be cosplaying furries too! I think this may be an example of some symptom by proxy (cf Munchausen) but I haven't a clue which one.
