So I thought, "Well, if I actually get round to activating my Egg card today, it might make me feel a bit better about having been so unproductive yesterday." Go to www.egg.com and log in. "Sorry, this area of the site is currently unavailable." For heaven's sake, is it too much to ask that ONE POXY BIT of the world wide wank is actually working at the time when I want to use it? Is it? Is it?

And I've made a dog's arse of a new custom 404 page on admin.cam so it's currently saying "404: page not found, and in addition 404 not found" or WTTE. Which would be quite funny except that it's on the fscking live site. And we monged up the Reporter (thanks [livejournal.com profile] emperor for alerting us to it!) when we changed the templating system three weeks ago, which turned out to be a bigger problem with the templating, which I then couldn't fix because the updating system was broken (grahh!) ... and the only redeemingly funny thing to come out of that mess was that Nicola recognised [livejournal.com profile] emperor's name and said "Isn't he the one with the picture of someone's hand up a horse's arse on the newsgroups?"

Swap over to sth which will let you transfer your current balance for 0% interest...

That's why I was transferring to Egg -- 0% for 6 months on balance transfers. So long as I can get the money in them, and pay it back, I don't care if I can't use the card -- it's all to the good!

IIRC Glasto is almost always wet, muddy even if its sunny

'Twasn't too bad either of the last two years. There's bits of mud, but not too bad except round the water-taps etc.

You can always use scarves creatively (or anoraks, or GoreTex, or bin-liners, if the heavens really do open)

That's another thing I was going to do -- make cool clothes out of old waterproofs. But nobody had any old waterproofs to give me, and I'm not buying them just to cut up, cos I'm a cheapskate.

Erm, what about a bracelet made from some EPNS cutlery?

Er... what about it? (Am I missing something?)

Car-boot/jumble sale, though? Much cheaper than charidee shops.

I was (perhaps optimistically) hoping that people would have old knackered waterproofs that they couldn't sell at all, which they'd therefore be willing to give me for no money. :-)

A car boot sale or jumble sale would be brilliant (for all sorts of things!) but I've yet to find a good regular one in Cambridge. Well, apparently the car boot at Milton Tesco is okay, but it starts at 7am and thus is all over by 9am. I wake up at 6:45 on 6 days of the week, I'm not overkeen on waking up even earlier on Sunday! :-( (Obviously not dedicated enough to the jumble-hunting thing...)

No, not at all - just that once I had a damask skirt and my grandmother twitted me about having nicked her tablecloth :-) and the whole idea became a family joke: interchangeable fashion items for people and tables.

We still comment on other people's OTT clothes in terms of the well-dressed table (what, no salad?).

But I saw such a bracelet in Edinburgh a year or two ago and it looked great. I thought such a thing would suit you, really.

<giggle> at the table/cloth(e)s joke.

Bracelets made out of cutlery -- I've yet to be convinced. Can't really envisage such a thing... though googling for "bracelet cutlery" produced these (http://www.daphna-jewels.com/bracelets.htm) (which vary from quite tasteful to utterly hideous). Is that the sort of thing you meant?

ermmmmm, not exactly. The one I saw was basically a sterling dinner fork elegantly turned into a cuff bracelet - accompanied by a silver spoon, also turned into a cuff bracelet. Much more humorous and tongue-in-cheek. There were a pair of earrings made of the bowls of spoons, as well. Quite sparky altogether.
