Since there's a lot of Pratchett-positive people around here, I thought I'd offer these to you guys first before putting them on the magic ucam.adverts newsgroups:

Three tiny (about 1" high) pewter-ish figurines of Pratchett characters: Corporal Carrot, Nobby Nobbs, and Captain Vimes. They're really rather cute, but I'm sick and tired of dust-gathering knick-knacks cluttering up my house.

Make me an offer. No, not that kind of offer. Money, or swaps for something interesting/useful, or whatever. Best offer gets them; my decision is final, your statutory rights are nonexistent, may contain traces of nuts. :-)

Update: Pictures would have been a good idea. I'll take a photo tonight if you like but in the meantime they're basically just like these except I can't find the right characters here.

ah, your basic lead-poured-into-a-not-very-detailed-mould jobby.
i'll give them a miss, then.
and yes, i know they probably don't use real lead anymore.
molten lead's a beautiful colour, you know.

I'm not sure how you'd get more detailed at that size -- you can see Carrot's toes sticking out of his sandals, you can see the ball-on-a-chain thing that Nobby is holding...

Unlikely to be lead I'd've thought since it's poisonous... may not be pewter either, may just be something cheap and nasty. I really don't know.

Nobody wants the plastic crucifix or the doll-sized Santa hat that I'm giving away on ucam.adverts.giveaway either, I just don't understand it.

Well, yes, you can't get much more detailed with that material, but the not-lead things just don't work for me, somehow. I'd rather have a nice resin job like the ones you get in Forbidden Planet (mostly oddly shaped female superheroes, for some reason!)

I'd like them, Jan, if they've not already gone.

Tenner?

Coo, d'you really think they're worth that much? I think I'd feel guilty taking that much money off you for something so tiny. ... This isn't the way haggling is supposed to go, is it? :-)

Well, it looks from the website that they're about £3.50 each, so a tenner's probably fair. If you feel guilty about a crisp tenner, how'd you feel about a ten quid M&S voucher - I keep getting them for applying for other things!

Ten quid M&S voucher would be cool, I could spend it without guilt on nice salads for lunch! Assuming you can use the vouchers in the food hall. If you can't, I'll put it towards a nice swimsuit, maybe.

Do you want me to post the figurines, or shall I make this another excuse to come up and visit? :)

Sorry for the delay. You can use vouchers where you want, I occasionally buy evil crisps with them!

You're welcome to visit whenever, if you don't mind the floor, but it might be easier to do a post swap while we're sorting out dates!

Okay, will do a post swap when I get round tuit. I'm sure I have your address somewhere, but if I don't I'll email! I don't mind the floor so visiting is only really limited by mutually-available weekends... next couple of months are looking busy though. Dammit, why aren't there more weekends in a week?

Make me an offer. No, not that kind of offer.

Can one make you that kind of offer if it doesn't have anything to do with the figurines ?

Experience suggests that one can; equally, one may, if one so wishes. ;^)
