More handwashing today; what with all the blue and purple stuff yesterday and the black stuff today, I feel like I've spent the last two days watching the sink turn indigo. There are now only 3 items in the handwashing pile (an orange silk shirt which I can't be bothered to wash as the colour will clash horribly with my hair now anyway; a dark blue cotton shirt which will run dreadfully -- I can tell; and my black satin balldress from last year's Glastonbury, which is just too huge to fit on the already-overloaded drying lines). Yesterday there were about five bags full of the stuff, so I feel like I've achieved something. If only filling the kitchen with drying racks and ironing piles and freshly-folded clothes.

Last night while [livejournal.com profile] sion_a was out I finished colouring my dress, and laced up the back with the coloured ribbons I'd bought in the morning. Pictures here.

Today I finally managed to replace my falling-apart trainers. For months and months now I have been whinging about my trainers -- the insoles are coming apart, and they're really too grubby to wear to work now -- but failing to find any replacements which were what I wanted (neutral colours but not all white, fairly chunky sole, proper shoe rather than these open-backed things). I didn't want to pay too much for new ones because the ones I'm replacing (which lasted for ages) only cost about a tenner, & I felt I shouldn't need to pay much more than that. Finally found what I was looking for on eBay, and won them today: they're black and white, with what look like quite chunky soles, and only cost £7.50 including postage. And they're practically-new (only been worn once, in the gym, apparently).

Unfortunately, neither the trainers nor the steel toecapped boots (another eBay purchase, another thing I've been hunting for in my size for years and have managed to find for under 8 quid) will arrive before I go to Glastonbury. This time on Wednesday night I should be in a tent! ... Just hope I'm feeling in a more partyish mood by then.

The dress looks really good.

Buying shoes I both like and which fit me (and my strange previously broken ankle and wide but short feet) is a complete nightmare, so congratulations on finding a suitable pair. :-)

1. How much handwashing? I hate doing it, so am in awe. Thinking about it, perhaps you hate it too, and that's why there was so much...

2. The dress is lovely. The sweep of colour is just right on the white, the colours are lovely, and the ribbons really offset the colours. The whole effect is marvellous.

3. Shoes. I daren't buy online because I like to feel them on, and I'm picky about the fit. Shame they won't arrive before Glasto, but you could view Glasto as the retirement bash for the old trainers!

4. Glasto. We're going to visit [livejournal.com profile] oldbloke's family this weekend. In Bath. It's taken me a week to realise we're driving down on Friday and will no doubt find ourselves travelling with festival-goers.

Nah, you should be OK; the bulk of the festival-goers. will be travelling on Thursday, with an advance guard on Wednesday, and only the stragglers left by Friday. Most folks leave on Monday, too.

Oh wonderful, that's when I'm heading down. I may be experiencing the Glastonbury vibe by sleeping in a tent in my parents' back garden, as little brother is back from Swansea and my cousin and her family are also visiting for the weekend.

Do you think my parents would object if I dug a latrine in the flower bed?

How much handwashing?

Two years' worth, more or less. There's clothes there that I'd forgotten I owned! I don't actually mind doing it once I get going, it's just finding the tuits to start...

Shoes. I daren't buy online because I like to feel them on, and I'm picky about the fit.

I prefer to try them on beforehand, too, but I've been trawling round shops for ages failing to find something that looks right, so I'm going to give these a chance. If they don't fit then I'll just have to flog 'em on eBay again I guess!

Wow. Absolutely fabulous. What a great job.
I'm going to look dowdy beside you.
Perhaps the purple hair after all...

You will look lovely no matter what.

Though the main problem with purple (it occurred to me last night) is unless it's very permanent, fast colour, it's going to run down the back of your white robe as soon as it rains. Blonde wouldn't have this problem...

When are you going to decide? Will I just have to wait and see on Wednesday? (THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, yay!)

It looks like a genre of wedding/May Morning dress: spectacular. Everyone who sees it will, I think, be minded of all the promises of summer which spring contained. Lucky them, and yay, you.
