The tie-dye trousers, meanwhile, have already achieved a very respectable price.

Maybe the other things'll pick up closer to the end of the auction -- the last couple of things I've failed to buy have rocketed in the last 30 minutes. Still, at least someone's watching the black velvet thing.

Update: Two people are now watching the velvet top, and the trousers have been bid up to £13.50! This is so exciting! :-)

I think - easily could be wrong - that anyone buying knives with blades which are more than 6 cm long can be ID'd as to age regardless of what sort of shop sells the item/s. I'm not saying you're not responsible - you know your knives!

Couldn't tell from the pics whether yours would or would not take an edge; they certainly have a good point on them and from their *shape* would make good fleshing knives. If their steels are very dull and corroded they're not likely to be much cop, but a water stone should give you the amswer; if under their age they're faintly bluey then they might sharpen up nicely. Very handsome items. If I wasn't moving house I would be tempted...

Ah, you're probably right about the ID-ing. Never been ID'd buying knives of any length (including those two, which I picked up at a jumble sale) though actually thinking about I was ID'd when I bought a set of three swords... I'd quite forgotten.

Quality of blades -- they're quite shiny (they were in a right state when I got them but they've cleaned up nicely) but they are corroded/pitted in a few places so I'm not sure how well they'd stand up to sharpening. They are pretty, though, which is why I bought them in the first place :-) but now I am making a big effort to eliminate clutter from my life & consequently They Have To Go.

What's a water stone? (I probably should know...)
