Got back from Switzerland yesterday. Will write about the holiday some time, maybe. (Executive summary: the weather was mostly very hot, and I saw lots of mountains.)

Started trying to catch up with LJ, couldn't face it. Will try to catch up with individual journals over the next week or so but in the meantime, if anybody exploded while I was away, they should infer as many hugs from me as they want.

Haven't even tried to catch up with uk.misc. Thinking of giving it up for good.

Individual remarks (I know, these really should be emailed, but I'm here now):

[livejournal.com profile] rysmiel and [livejournal.com profile] acronym, I owe you replies to email, I haven't forgotten, I'm just crap.
(Anybody else I owe email replies to, I probably have forgotten, and I'm crap.)
[livejournal.com profile] acronym and [livejournal.com profile] lnr (jointly or severally), it'd be good to meet up for lunch some time over the next week or two.
[livejournal.com profile] juggzy, I want to ask your advice on something; if I don't email you in the next few days please prod me (because I will probably be being avoidant).

Email away. Or phone, if you'd prefer.

Don't give up on uk.misc. We have had several returnees (yes! since you went! But this has absolutely nothing to do with your absence, before you manage to twist it, more Leems prounounced presence, probably) and it is v. amusing. And I have just written two very long posts which amuse me in parts.

I did just go and try to look at misc, but right now it all feels like listening to a conversation taking place on the other side of a pub, while I sit on my own trying to make a pint last for another hour so I don't have to go home at a time when I might stay awake too long, and trying to decide whether looking pointedly at my watch again will make me look like somebody who does have friends (albeit ones who stand me up) or just a lonely fucker who pretends to have friends.

Gah, why can I do LJ but not email? I feel sick inside every time I go and try to sort out the emails that have been sitting unread for weeks.

And there's no food in the house, so it's gin for dinner again.

It's a strange phenomenon. I can do LJ better than news (these days) and news better than email. And the date of my last journal entry which wasn't a lemming will tell you how good I am at that…

You can't ever "catch up" with uk.misc; I always find it easier, when I come back after a period, to just hit "mark all as read", and start again.

Oh, I can do the "mark all as read", it's the "start again" that I'm wondering about the pointfulness of.

Ah, yes. Point taken. I've stopped several times, but I always end up being drawn back.

But then, people there would miss you if you went away for good.

Silly. If you post there tonight, I can guarantee that there'll be another half a dozen posts going "Ooh, missing person returns, well I never!" by the morning. And only one of them will be from me.
