Joke stolen from the Rutles film

rysmiel's recent Chenanigans reminded me that I made this a while ago & it never got an airing:

"Shea Stadium, named after the famous Cuban revolutionary Shea Stadium."

No, okay, it doesn't work written down, because you have to collapse the homonymic pun. Schroedinger's punchline. And I was much less proficient with Photoshop then, too, as you can tell. But you get the general idea.

Ho hum.

Interesting. Not sure I've seen a visual/spoken joke that did not work written down before.

The visual bit of it is my fault entirely. But the spoken bit is so funny in the film but completely falls flat on paper. I think it's because when it's spoken it sets up expectations and knocks them down in such rapid succession and it relies on the words, um, *waves hands* unfolding in that order.

Jokes really aren't so funny when you start trying to analyse them, are they? :-/
