I would also like to go goth clubbing (like seal clubbing only more messy) some time soon, largely because it saddens me so much to see all my corsets languishing in my closet; however, I am sick of the Calling -- the music has been far too industrial-biased the last few times I've been there, and the venue is even more of a dive than I like, and that's saying something. Does Oxford still have a goth night? Or (*gulp*) is it time for me to brave the London goth scene? Okay, going to the Slimelight would cost me a valuable trump card in games of "I have never", but hey.

Unfortunately the end-of-month gothness that was Tenebrae suffered a venue implosion, but there should be other things happening - I think that they went midweek. Sorry it's going to be so long - but do say if you come down to London!

Slimelight was utter crap the one time I went. Oxford still has Intrusion, yes, but it's midweek. B-Movie in London was enjoyable when I went (just the once) but crowded. Synthetic Culture was rather fun; interesting (big!) venue, various floors, though only one playing music to my taste. All of these events should be Googleable.

Midweek in Oxfnord is potentially do-able, particularly if I can find nice people to crash with. And it looks like Intrusion is a Tuesday night, which is one of the more plausible midweeknights for me.

B-Movie is ace, and they serve Actual Proper Beer at London pub prices rather than London club prices. But the next one is aaaaages away, and I want to dance now now now!

second Tuesday of each month; the official Intrusion website died after people forgot to renew the domain, but there are pictures here (http://www.geocities.com/sgt_marko) for an idea of what it's like.

music tends to be a good mix of trad goth / general 80s / electro / industrial / all sorts (with a sense of humour), good atmosphere, friendly crowd, crap dancefloor (small stage which is easy to fall off the edge of and somewhat dangerous for tall people).

One of the problems I've been having with goth clubbing recently is all the clubs near by have far too many people I know in them, meaning I can't really spend a night just, y'know, unselfconciously dancing, and stuff.

Slimelight's very slanted towards the industrial/EBM end of things; this is why I like it, and one of the reasons why plenty of other people hate it. They open up a tradgoth floor every month or so, so you might want to try then if at all. It's normally announced very slightly in advance on slimelight.

You've got a point with "Kick In The Eye" what with its funk bassline. Thing is though with the Sisters, people like Craig Adams couldn't be funky if their lives depended on it, though you're right up to a point re fellow Leeds 6 dwellers the Lorries.

PANIC ended last term, but Oxford will have student nights Vertigo and Narcissists, and then there's Sabotage, Intrusion, Trashy, Transformation... I'm a bit off the ball.
