Thank you to the kind person who sent me anonymous CAKE BY POST from www.doughdough.com! You're very sweet, and I'm sure the cake will be too. :-)

And while I'm thanking people -- a couple of weeks ago I got a hand-knitted miniature moebius scarf in the internal mail at work, I suppose you could call it a moebius muffler, and because my brain was full of 'flu and I was barely managing to remember which way was 'up', I was all confused about it, & remembered having an email conversation about it ages ago, but couldn't remember who with, and couldn't find the relevant mails anywhere in any of my various email accounts. So I've been feeling guilty about not knowing who to thank, but am now feeling guiltier about not having said thank you at all! So colour me sheepish, but it is a lovely warm scarf and made me feel a lot happier when I was ill.

Thank you too to the people who sent me nice emails when I was all messed up in my funny-shaped head. If I didn't reply it's because I didn't know what to say. If I did reply, um, I probably still didn't know what to say, so can I apologise now for ranting and raving at you? I think the human contact helps even if I don't know what to do with it at the time.

Aw, actually, you're all lovely. I will make you all cake, or buy you all beer, or something. :-)

Sorry, I can just see you in a state of bunged-up lurgatory, turning the moebius muffler endlessly 'round and 'round and over, wondering why it isn't coming out head-shaped. Or why it is what with you having a funny-shaped head and all.

Call me Mr Sympathy. Or buy me beer. Both of which will make me shut up, or bother Other People, or not.

I don't actually have a funny-shaped head. This is just a vicious rumour started by damerell. Perhaps because he's funny-shaped in other ways, hem hem. Not that I'd know.

I will buy you beer next time we are both in a beer-vending establishment at the same time! And talking of beer, will I be seeing you at hoiho's party, eh?

Hmmm, this diary stuff is more complicated than I'd thought. Yes, there is a party in Cambridge this weekend. Not hoiho's - I'd been wondering how to show my face at both - but that problem appears to have solved itself.

And the 19th, I'll be in Paris. Upside-down and airborne. For some of the time, anyway.
