[livejournal.com profile] addedentry and [livejournal.com profile] j4 invite you to their distributed birthday celebrations!

It's our birthday on 5/5/5. Janet will be 3x3x3 and Owen will be a perfect number.

PARTY PART ONE: London, Thursday 5 May
Come to Poptimism [flyer for last time]. Drink, dance, or both, and get home in time to know the general election result.

PARTY PART TWO: Cambridge, Saturday 7 May
Meet at the Fort St George, Midsummer Common, for picnic or pubbing, from 1500 onwards.

Then back to [livejournal.com profile] j4's house from 2000 for more party and cake. RSVP appreciated, especially if you might need to stay over.

Bring badgers, booze, boyfriends/girlfriends and birthday wishes.

Well, I'll be at Poptimism. But this getting home... oh wait, hang on. This is all very familiar.

Gah! Lectures on Thursday, and pre-booked for Saturday. Rasn-snafn-rasn. But as Poptimism is on until 1 ... although slightly scared by the flyer.

(Possibly until 3 but ahem we haven't sorted out new flyers yet :))

Count me in for the Saturday, and I'll definitely think about Poptimism. It sounds like really good fun, but argh getting home that night or to work the next day is going to be difficult!

I am already ironing my boob tube and my sparkly disco trousers, for part two. Blimey, I'm turning into a middle-aged party animal. Is this my mid-life crisis?

(I've just been to a meeting with a colleague I've known for nearly 20 years and two young women, and I'm feeling like one of the old farts who used to totter around the campus when I was a youth, telling people they remembered Philip Larkin).

I'll say the same thing on both journals, though without the typo here...

Hullo. Herr Powers and I would love to join you, definitely for Thursday and likely for both (though Saturday may be an afternoon visit only).

We'll be parking in Soho, so would be able to drop people we like the look of home anywhere between Soho and Hockliffe.

I should think we can make the Saturday with relative ease*, and I'm very tempted to see if I can break my 'no clubbing, not never, who me?' rule and make it to Poptimism which sounds like the sort of thing I'd actually enjoy. Despite disliking that sort of thing. :)

* Depending on the ease of relatives, really, since it's the birthday of one of them. But we'll see him the following weekend anyway, which is coincidentally when my birthday is. I will be 10001. Or 3x3x3+3+3. I'm not sure which sounds more ancient. But it's all a fib since in my head I am going to be 22 again. Which sounds much more fun. ;-)

Can't do election night, as I'll be broadcasting back in Bradford doing my poor man's Peter Snow sorta thang. BUT there's a live chance that I can make it on the Saturday if you can clear me some space to crash in among the badger colony.
As for birthdays, well mine's the week before yours and while I can't do 3x3x3 or perfect numbers, I can at least manage 2x22.

The sum of your ages will be 55. You should dub this a 55th birthdays party!

I was born at 5:55 pm - well, 5 minutes before 5 minutes before that.

I think I should be able to make Saturday (probably not Thursday), and would need crash space.

Saturday: Yes, definitely! Can I reserve crash space?

Thursday, ploptimism: probably not. Work night, and Aikido night, unless the dojo is a polling station.

very fab on both counts

I might have broken my omertà and at least threatened to be live - but will be on an airplane, or getting off one, on those nights.

Have delightful times planning those good days and evenings, though. Yay you both.

Both are in my diary. I probably won't be able to make the Thursday (unless I took the Friday off, which I just possibly might, given it's also my birthday weekend) but I will be in Cambridge on the Saturday, albeit for the purpose of attending a prior engagement. I suspect I will be in your vicinity, though, and will do my utmost to come and see you and bring you birthday wishes and nice things, and stay for a while if I possibly can.

Update: I have the Friday off and will come to the clubbing. I will probably have to go home from work to vote and then head out again, unless I can get up early enough to vote in the morning.

What does one wear to this event? I have only been goth or fetish clubbing recently, so my ideas of appropriate attire may be a tad skewed.

Um, whatever one wants? AFAIK there's no dress-code, & indie is a broad church. (Full-on fetish would probably be a bit OTT, though, likewise full-on goth.) You saw the sort of things people wore to Panic ... probably something like that. (I've never been to this club before, so I dunno what it's like; I always sort of expect London indie to be a bit more glamorous than provincial indie, but that's not always the case ...)

Sorry, I never know what to advise people on things like this! :-/

I shall be cooking - first dinner party in ages is the next day. Please dance like a loon for me, and I shall drink an accidentally-garlic-flavoured gin and tonic for you.

Oh, btw, Owen says "think disco rather than clubbing" if that helps. Not sure it would help me... You'll look lovely whatever you wear, anyway! :)

Still don't know what I'm going to wear...

From: [identity profile] j4.livejournal.com
Does that mean your dinner party is on the Friday (so you won't be able to make the Thursday night) or on the Sunday (so you won't be able to make the Saturday afternoon/evening)? Or both? Confused. It will be a shame if you can't make it to either! I haven't seen you for ages.

Hope the dinner party goes well though anyway! And garlic-flavoured gin-and-tonic sounds too good to be only done by accident. Mmmm.

Update:
  1. Will try to make it after Aikido.
  2. Will be accompanied by large bag of sweaty Kidogi;
  3. Will try very, very hard not to turn up in work clothes (a pinstripe suit)...
  4. ...But may still succeed in being the most ridiculous person there. Taimatsu has nothing to fear on that score.

I think I have thought of something to wear. I'm a bit nervous that I won't know anyone aaaaaaargh except you, obviously. I'll be fiiiiine :)

You too will look lovely whatever you wear!
