Gleep. That's heading in the direction of "But apart from that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln ?"
[ Have you read Waiting for the Galactic Bus ? It's a very weird and hysterical book in which John Wilkes Booth is still wandering around Hell furious that, despite being the greatest Hamlet of his generation, he's remembered for killing one lousy Republican. ]
Never even heard of it -- but it sounds fun, and there are two copies on eBay which are currently going for only 99p, so I will see if I can snag one for a reasonable price. (Because, you know, my reading list is just not quite big enough. :-)
It is a lot of fun, and really not much like anything else, though I can see shelving it with Douglas Adams and the better Robert Sheckley out of desperation. [ And an extremely poor sense of alphabetical order. ]

I believe the appropriate expression is "Mwahahahahahaaaaa !"
The truly irritating thing about it is that I then tried to find anything else by Parke Godwin. And then only found historical/fantasy stuff, which just wasn't the same.
But I see there is a second book. Oh my, I think I might just have to open an Amazon account.
Snake Oil Wars is not quite so good, and if anything it's even weirder. I've read a fair bit of the historicals: Tower of Beowulf is kind of grim fun, if that description makes any sense at all, and the first two Arthur books would probably be OK to anyone who did not find them quite so politically obnoxious as I do. The St. Patrick one, The Last Rainbow, has probably the most crack!tastic ending I've ever seen in a published novel that's been reational within its own loopy premises up to that point, though.
And there's only one userpic I can possibly use with this.
