(Surprisingly, for once, I don't mean "badgers".)

Does anybody have any favourite examples of good corporate blogging? I'm thinking of official blogs for companies/organisations/institutions (anything HE/FE-related would be particularly useful, but commercial stuff is fine too) rather than individuals blogging about their employers (with or without said employers' blessing). By "good" I guess I mean frequently updated, relevant, and (if this isn't asking too much) interesting. I know about blogs.warwick.ac.uk (though AFAICT that's more about individual blogging than an official corporate voice), and a google trawl netted me OUP's blog, but I'm particularly keen to get actual recommendations from actual readers. After all, even a frequently updated, relevant and interesting blog isn't much use if nobody's reading it!

I tend to disagree with the content, but - http://www.adamsmith.org/blog/

I like the F-Secure virus one, but I'm not sure if that fits your definition of "corporate blog". Also some of the ones on blogs.sun.com (though neither of these really has the HE/FE bent that you wanted).

Agreed! [livejournal.com profile] f_secure surely counts as a corporate blog, and is read by plenty of people with an interest in the field. [livejournal.com profile] viruslist_blog similarly but less so.

[livejournal.com profile] bruce_schneier's blog is certainly professional; is it also commercial?

[livejournal.com profile] fairygothmother is definitely a corporate blog, albeit not quite what might be expected of the genre. (-8

Not sure if this is appropriate - there's Hiro's blog (http://blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/). This is a blog written by a character in NBC's awesome new show Heroes. It's obviously on their corporate website, and also obviously fictional, but it works really well as a tie-in to the show.

Obviously, it does contain spoilers.

The LibraryThing blog is pretty good - frequently updated, and a lot of user/owner interaction in comments, particularly in the early posts. Actually, there are two of them now, come to think of it. One's business/social, one's technical. www.librarything.com, or [livejournal.com profile] library_thing and [livejournal.com profile] thingology.

It depends what you mean by corporate blogging - lots of the CETIS folk keep blogs on the CETIS site, AOC Nilta has a blog that a friend of mine writes for them and OSS Watch has one too. Of course there are tons of academics and people who work at universities who blog. Even the odd school headmaster. Most corporate blogs for organisations that aren't tiny tend to be more like news feeds - the kind of thing JISC and the OU both do. I presume you've seen Google's blog too.

I know tons about blogging in HE/FE though - I was on the organising committee of the first ever conference about blogging in HE/FE - so do feel free to pick my brain!

There are loads of good ones in the design/technology space...

http://opentoeveryone.typepad.com/open_to_everyone/
and
http://thedesignconspiracy.typepad.com/weblog/

in design:

http://googleblog.blogspot.com/ in technology, and half way inbetween is one of the best blogs on the entire Internet:

hope that helps! Hidden Music will get one when I roll out the new website. (Might get some work done on that tonight.)
