Bad in tent

So who's planning to try for Glastonbury tickets this weekend?

I am dithering. [livejournal.com profile] addedentry has indicated quite clearly that he'd rather poke his eyes out with rusty forks than go with me this time, so if I do get tickets, I will be On My Own (by which I mean "with 175,000 other people", but, y'know).

Green Man festival. You know it makes sense, and also gives you something to do during August.

Hmmmm. Not convinced about the lineup (except RICHARD THOMPSON, who is God)...

I know the bands aren't the whole thing, but they're a significant factor!

Trowbridge!

[argh, I must organise myself for that]

Coo! Richard Thompson here as well. And Oysterband. And Show of Hands. That does look quite tempting, actually, but two folk festivals (am strongly considering Cambridge) might be a bit silly...

Oh but damn damn damn Trowbridge clashes with the conference I really really want to go to this summer. :-{

Ooh. YOu made me look. I can't get anyone to go with me to the Green Man festival, but my brother lives right by Trowbridge. Do you mind if I come along? Thompson and Alabama 3!

Although, mmm, it's a bit Old Folkie and while thre's nothing wrong with that I expect it'll be a bit death by festival chair.

I'm going to try, and of course you're welcome to a lift and/or to pitch your tent next to my van if you get no better offers! Assuming I manage to get a ticket, that is...

Thank you! :)

(The van place always seems so far away but then basically everything is so far away and of course now I know I can run 5 miles! :-D Though probably wouldn't want to try running across muddy fields etc., because trust me, it's a really long way to the medical tent when you twist your ankle.....)

Eh, it's not that bad, but I usually don't go back there during the day - and there's a decent farm track pretty devoid of mud by that point.

See how it goes, eh :)? And good luck with the tickets tomorrow AM!

I'm sure we'll manage to meet there even if you do end up camping with the cool people ;)

Lunch/dinner this week?

[Actually using an appropriate userpic this time, since I'm posting from an actual computer rather than my mobile in Lincoln bar!]

Ace!

Though I'm guessing that like last time you don't want uncool people actually camping too near you? :-}

Anyone, including specifically you :-), is more than welcome to camp near us, that would be lovely! Not doing the saving-tent-space thing for anyone, though - it gets too stressful. As does (IMO) trying to get more than 2 tents in the same place, so not doing that either. (I was borderline on going back at *all*, so full stress reduction plans now in place.)

EXCEPT it's all bloody academic cos can't get ticket page up anyway, so. Bah.

I know it's a worthy thing to do & I have a lot of respect for the people who do it, but honestly, given that I'm dithering about whether it's likely to be too muddy to have fun and too miserable camping on my own, I think adding in a) a guaranteed 24 hours of picking up other people's rubbish, b) having to use up an entire 5 days' holiday so as to be there for all the setup as well, and c) having absolutely no option of going home if the weather is awful & I'm having a rubbish time, would tip the balance very firmly in the direction of "too much misery". :-/

Heh, no I can see that :) I was thinking more in a "if you want to meet up for a bit of company over the weekend" - I will actually have my mobile on all festival this year now I have a solar charger.
