pto452 has her water-pump transplant booked for next Friday. Not as soon as I'd like but better late than never. Hopefully she'll be back in good running order before it gets any colder round here.

hoiho came round this morning to bring me strawberries and say goodbye before going back up to Scotland for an indefinite amount of time -- probably about a week but maybe longer. I'll miss him but I guess a bit of distance might do us both good; it hasn't been easy recently, even if things did seem more hopeful today.

I've reserved four tickets to see the Levellers (in their acoustic guise as Drunk In Public) at the Boat Race on Saturday. Feeling very guilty about missing marnameow's party but I really can't face partyish atmosphere, and I will only feel worse if I stay in and mope. I don't really want to go to the gig on my own but I also don't really want to have to talk much to anybody; hoping I can just drink and listen to good music. So if anybody else is feeling antisocial and wants to see the Levellers (hell, I remember when being antisocial was more or less required if you were an indie kid), email me. Sorry again to marnameow for being so crap. :-(

All the people who have emailed me, thank you for caring, and I'm sorry this is the closest you've had to a reply. Feeling very distanced from everything at the moment. It does help to know you're out there but beyond that there's not much I can say. I hope you'll forgive me for being so useless.

I think I'm going to go back to bed and read more Chalet School books.

I don't know how many you have, but I have 1-13 inclusive, 24-26, 29, 37, 38, 40, 45, 46, 50 and 'The Chalet Book for Girls' any of which you may borrow should you wish. (I have a webbed list of books I haven't got (http://www,chiark.greenend.org.uk/~kprocter/chaletschool.html) but not of books I have, so not very useful for borrowing purposes)

I have: 1-20, 22-32, 34, 35, 37-46, 48-50, 52, 53, 55-57; plus a new one that I can't remember the name of, which was written by some impostor. So none that I need to borrow, but thanks for the offer!

I believe julietk has some of the ones I'm missing, and ISTR bopeepsheep has them all. Is there a Chalet School community on LJ? If not, can we start one?

I want there to be Chalet School conventions, where we all get to dress up as Chalet girls. And speak French, German and English on the different days of the convention. Right now the escapism is appealing to me even more than it usually does.

I do indeed. I must go and get them from my mother's house, although I don't think I can now argue that "T might want them", which would otherwise have been my excuse for rootling about in the various boxes of books stored there... (but he might want my Jennings books at some point).

Yes, there should be a CS community. Only 22 people list it as an interest, and there's no community that I can find, but maybe we should start one? I'd be up for Chalet School conventions but I'd be communicating largely in pantomime on French days, I think.

I thought that would be the case, but wasn;'t sure about the album-type thing, which has a couple of stories not in the books.
(I'll have them all eventually, I'm just buying them slowly....)


As for conventions, don't FOCS (http://www.rockterrace.demon.co.uk/FOCS/main.html) do them sometimes? Although I'm not sure they speak the relelvant languages.

An LJ community would be great, we could post in the relevant languages, and any language we like on Sunday...
