I did something I've never done before at lunchtime.

Guess.

Clarification: I had never done this thing before at lunchtime or at any other time. (And it's really not that interesting, I was just being daft & interested to know what people thought I might have done.)

It it "never done before, at lunchtime" or "never done before at lubchtime"?

The former.

- Went to a makeup counter in a department store and had one of those free consultation/trial session things?

- Chatted up a stranger in the street and ended up with a date?

- Cycled round the entire Cambridge ring road in one go?

(can you tell by the number of comments I'm making in your journal today that I'm in a procrastinatey mood too?)

I don't even think I'd want to do any of those, to be honest. I don't use makeup; I'm still recovering from the last failed relationship so I don't really want to date anybody (though it would be nice to randomly meet somebody in town who turned out to be nice, and maybe go out for a drink with them and other friends some time, if that counts); and the idea of that much cycling makes my legs hurt just to think about it!

OTOH the thing I did wasn't as interesting as any of those, so. :)

The counterpart to that is that some classy curry houses will give you an After Eight mint at the end of your meal (*) and one of my friends once used his after eight to pick up the last parts of the curry sauce from his not-quite-finished balti dish. Classy.

Original question: did you save a life? (I know that you used to give blood, but that's not it...)

(*) One curry house memorably bought out a big two-layer box of the blighters just for our party of 15. I think it was Jamal's in Oxford, but it might just as easily have been somewhere in Birmingham.

Data points: there is a nice Polish restaurant in Oxford which routinely puts chocolate in main courses, thus combining it with all kinds of unexpected savoury things. And [livejournal.com profile] blackherring makes a habit of dipping chocolate fingers in houmous, and has so far failed to destroy civilization by so doing.

Sadly not. I am now having cravings for garlic and chocolate.

([livejournal.com profile] hoiho promised me a steak in dark chocolate and pepper sauce once, but it was the sort of promise that I assume ran out when we split up.)

I did have a rum truffle from Nadia's today (which I've never done before) but that was before lunchtime. It was good, but my eyes were evidently bigger than my stomach (as my mum always used to tell me) because I could only eat about 2/3 of it. Which would have been fine except that I'd bought another cake as well, because at the time I was really hungry.

My stomach doesn't know what the hell it's doing.

Eaten something you've never eaten before.
Signed up to do a charity stunt of the nature of abseiling down Carfax Tower (but a Tab-specific tower obviously, I don't know which would be most abseil-friendly, never having considered them in that light).
Bought lunch for a stranger.
Bought Woman's Weekly or something similar in tone.

I did briefly sign up to do a bungee jump for charity once, but was told not to by then-boyfriend, so un-signed-up.

Bought _Women's Weekly_ or something similar in tone.

I used to buy Prima occasionally, actually, and still sometimes buy the Sainsbury's Magazine... gosh, all my guilty secrets are coming out now.

My bursting wardrobes and chests-of-drawers are testimony to the fact that in fact I do this all the time. :)

Bought a live badger?

In the UK this would result in, at the very least, a £5,000 fine -- they're a protected species. Which is probably a good thing, really; but all the same, I would love to rear a little baby badger. (I would release it into the wild carefully when it was grown up of course, because a fully-grown badger is Big and Not A Sensible Pet.)

I have not applied to the French Foreign Legion. :)
