Further to the previous post... I took photos of all the cables and adaptors that were hanging around. I know what some of them are, and can guess at others, but some are a complete mystery. See the full horror on Flickr and feel free to tag, annotate or comment!

The VCR, TVBox and monitor are at the beginning, for those who were asking about those specifically.

[livejournal.com profile] addedentry has just bought a coax-to-coax with "standard aerial connectors". It doesn't seem to do the right thing. :-/ Sound is coming out of the video! I think we may have lift-off! :-)

Mystery cable 7 is an old SCSI cable I think, the Centronics style connector is too wide for it to be a printer.

I think 17 is the video cable for a Sega Dreamcast.

I think 15 and 18 are video cables for a Nintendo Gamecube.

If mystery cable 16 fits into the MMI-C socket on the TV box then you ought to be able to put the red/white/yellow plugs into the red/white/yellow-to-SCART adaptor and thence to the back of the VCR. Why the S-video plug on this cable is female escapes me, but you don't need it because the VCR probably doesn't output S-video.

(The red and white ones are stereo sound and the yellow is composite video.)

Mystery cable 3 goes from an old Mac serial port to (probably) a modem.

Mystery cable 17 is a Sony PlayStation to composite+stereo cable.
