... any crap quizzes, lists of questions, etc. that I can fill in as a substitute for original thought, and also as a distraction from the fact that my stomach feels like it's been put through a mangle but I can't stop drinking the coffee (which is undoubtedly making things worse) or else I'll fall asleep at my desk ...?

Just wondering.

Which Shakespearean characters should be the subjects of slash fiction? Someone (I won't mention where) suggested Benedick and Claudio to which my immediate response was Claudio and Don John, please! It practically writes itself!

But who else?

Viola and Olivia. With or without Sebastian. [ Now there's a play with an implicit poly ending. ] Also Sebastian and Antonio.

And I've always wondered whether Hamlet, while studying in Wittgenstein, received any lectures from Dr. Faustus.

[ ooh, now, writing icon or sex icon ? ]

Mmmmm. I think I will file that away in my mind somewhere.

The one that's just occurred to me in a moment of where-the-hell-did-that-come-from is: perhaps the real reason Ophelia goes completely fruitloop is that it's Polonius's child she's pregnant with, and she no longer has any hope of hiding her guilty secret in a hasty marriage to Hamlet?

(Yeah, I know the whole was-Ophelia-pregnant thing is very old and boring, but come on, this breathes new and twisted life into it. And it's supported by the text! Honest!)

Hamlet and Horatio would probably be good, if predictable. But then I like hot boy-on-boy angst.

Er... it's a long time since I've read/seen any Shakespeare. And besides, I like F/F, and <controversial>there are no women in Shakespeare.</controversial>

Hermia/Helena. Which would be so easy to make happen.

You want hot boy-on-boy angst? Look no further than Richard III and his liege the Duke of Buckingham. They didn't call him King Dick for nothing!
