I do not need a khaki silk hoodie jacket. I do not need scarlet silk skirts, gold-coloured Chinese-style silk shirts, or big purple velvet dresses from Monsoon. I do not need a tight-fitting DKNY t-shirt, no matter how gay it looks; and I do not need a big crochet jumper in all the colours of the rainbow. I would never have an occasion on which to wear a electric-blue linen embroidered suit, much less a bizarre black leather party frock with huge leather roses sewn to the front; and while I could probably find occasions on which to wear a skinny-fit Warehouse top with Damien-Hirst-style dots on it, I still don't need any more bloody skinny-fit tops.

I have, however, been looking for a pair of PVC lace-up-the-sides trousers in my size and shape for a very long time. So I bought 'em. :)

Um, maybe, if I remember, but, y'know, it'd just be me in goth trousers. It's not that exciting.

Beg to differ.

As to whether we ever need clothes, well, after we're warm enough, and our genitals aren't exposed to the populace, do we need anything more than an old hop sack? I think we do.

Yes, but only for the pockets. Environmental protection and pockets are the only reasons why I see clothes on me as a positive thing. Clothes on other people I can connect to differently, but only if I'm also aesthetically interested in the other person.

That, and burlap irritates my skin.

Exactly so.

No, really -- you haven't seen the state of my room. I have two wardrobes which are stuffed to bursting; four chests of drawers which are bending, breaking, and spilling clothes out all over the place; two plastic storage crates full of clothes; two bags of socks and tights that don't fit in any of the drawers; clothes hanging on the back of my door, clothes hanging on the outside of my wardrobe, clothes in a pile in front of the wardrobe, and six bags full of washing under the desk. Then there's the spare room which is full of my clothes, there are coats of mine in [livejournal.com profile] sion_a's room, in the library and in the living room, and half a ton of what would be 'ironing piles' if I ever ironed anything is still residing in the kitchen.

I do not need any more clothes.

I can imagine; has it got worse?

I do not need any more clothes.

You're probably right, but you do look so good in them.

Well, yeah. Duh. It's several months since you've seen it, and I keep buying more clothes!

Seconded!

(And, while I'm thinking about it ... mmmmm, skinny-fit tops)

I have never needed a big purple velvet dress from Monsoon. However, I've always wanted one, and now I fear I will be drawn in there to look.

At least (or possibly even worse) this year I might actually stand a chance of fitting in one.

Probably no point -- the one I saw wasn't in Monsoon, it was on the second-hand clothes stall on Cambridge market!

I can't buy anything with a top half from Monsoon -- never fits my chest/back. God knows why because I'm not that big. Their skirts sometimes fit me though I have to go a size up from where I normally am. Sigh.

On an unrelated topic, do you reckon Monsoon will ever open the long-promised 'Monsoon For Men' on Long Acre? Not that any of it'll fit me, either.

...Rambled Hairyears, who's never been to Robertsbridge, but passed through it on a trip to Herstmonceaux.

It wasn't open on Monday, but the hoardings promise merely 'October'. I've been boggling at the concept for weeks. I just hope it isn't a washout.

They were promising 'September'. And 'Opening Summer 2004', before that.

It opened on Thursday 4 REAL. It's very pastel. At last I can buy accessories in tiny bags with paper-tie handles.

Adjust your mind: it's more fun to think: 'unlace-down-the-sides' trousers. Threre'd be no shortage of volunteers.

Hah -- they don't really unlace, though. I mean, they do, but not down to the skin -- there's a panel of fabric underneath/behind the two 'lace-up' edges. It's just for the look of the thing really.
